The Story

25 years of Fliegl push-off trailer

Exactly 25 years ago, Fliegl's biggest innovation to date came onto the market: in 1998, Josef Fliegl senior presented his Fliegl “Gigant” push-off trailer. From then on, the innovative deportation technology set new standards in the transport industry. As a special novelty, it was awarded a silver medal at the Agritechnica. Now, almost 9,100 days and over 25,000 ASWs produced later, first generation vehicles are still running. Of course, the ASW has also developed significantly during this time and is even more sophisticated today than it was back then.

Original push-off technology from Fliegl

With the original Fliegl push-off technology, Josef Fliegl senior set a milestone in agricultural technology: the unloading process was revolutionized and logistics in the agricultural sector were made safer, more efficient and more profitable. Thanks to the versatility and individual adaptability of the vehicles, not only agricultural businesses benefit from the technical innovations from Fliegl, but also industries such as forestry, biogas, gardening and landscaping as well as civil engineering.

When the push-off trailer was presented at Agritechnica, as with all innovations, there was initially great skepticism. But this quickly disappeared because many farmers and contractors recognized the potential: The Fliegl push-off system combines and optimizes the advantages of all known transport systems. It saves trips because more can be transported. It saves the need for special vehicles, as a wealth of accessories make every special application possible. Overloading grain or spreading manure is now easier than ever. It enables safe and quick unloading, regardless of the terrain, outdoors or in low halls. And that for decades.

The customer has a multifunctional vehicle available for a wide variety of work areas. Whether as an agricultural professional or as a snow transporter at airports - with the extensive accessories, the Fliegl push-off trailer becomes an all-rounder for year-round use that can be individually adapted to the respective requirements. Conversions or upgrades are possible at any time, even with older models. Advantages that customers particularly appreciate about the Fliegl push-off trailer.

Since 1998, the Fliegl push-off trailer has established itself as a prime example of innovation and versatility in agriculture. Over time, the product portfolio has continually expanded to meet the needs of farmers and transport professionals. Today, in 2023, Fliegl proudly offers no fewer than 51 models, ranging from small to huge.

However, the success story of the ASW goes far beyond the mere variety of models. Fliegl has continuously invested in the development of attachments, including transfer augers, spreaders, transfer conveyors and metering rollers. These extensions have made the ASW an extremely flexible vehicle that adapts to a wide range of agricultural requirements.

The Fliegl push-off trailer is available as a tractor-trailer vehicle, as a semi-trailer or as a swap body to meet different transport requirements. Fliegl also offers a wide range of equipment options, including load securing systems, the Protect package, weighing systems and practical control options.

Since its market launch in 1998, over 25,000 units of the Fliegl push-off trailer have been sold worldwide, which impressively underlines the high level of acceptance and demand for this first-class product.

Fliegl remains true to its tradition of continually investing in research and development to offer farmers and transport companies the best tools for their daily tasks. With a wide range of models, attachments, configuration options and state-of-the-art technologies, the Fliegl push-off trailer is the gold standard for agricultural transport solutions.

The Story

Fliegl introduces the TAURUS models

In 2019, Fliegl introduced the TAURUS models, which were specifically designed for use as silage vehicles and feature high-quality basic equipment. This expansion of product offerings allows farmers to transport efficiently. The largest of its kind is the ASW 3101 TAURUS. The Tridem vehicle with a permissible total weight of up to 34 t has a volume of approx. 55 m². The TAURUS family was developed specifically for the demands of ensiling or chopping. Features: Narrow towing bar for the best steering angle, hydraulically suspended towing device and the hydraulic suspension - both as standard - guarantee the best driving comfort. Also included is a hydraulically folding underrun protection and the additional Protect package consisting of profile filler and plastic fenders. Plastic rear apron and clearance lights as standard equipment.

NEW: the ASW 3101 TAURUS and its slightly smaller tandem colleague ASW 281 are available with 710/50 R 30.5 tires. The large tires ensure optimal weight distribution. This minimizes the local ground pressure enormously. They also ensure pleasant driving behavior.

One of the latest innovations that makes the ASW even more attractive is the SteerX electronic forced steering, which ensures precise maneuverability and higher safety standards.

SteerX works with innovative sensor technology that does not require a coupling linkage on the towing vehicle. The sensor is located on the trailer. All that is required on the tractor is load-sensing hydraulics and an Isobus connection. If the tractor is not equipped with Isobus, Fliegl also offers an Isobus cable harness including displays. If all data is available, the optimal steering angle is calculated based on the inclination and driving speed and the steering cylinder is moved to this position. Lateral forces when cornering are thus significantly minimized. Even at higher speeds and unpredictable maneuvers, the steering behavior adapts optimally and ensures a high level of driving stability.
